July 10, 2008
Hey guys ive been very disssapointed in ur work the last month. Before u guys were my favorite website and you guys inspired me to make my own website but ever since the 10th annivesary youve guys changed the format of the site which was way better before you also had more updates now you update every now and again also you only use the mailbag for major announcements which is proably y this email wont be published. u guys are capable of much more and i im starting to lose intrest in u guys (not tht it matters to u) so cmon guys step it up!!

I changed the format of the site? The only thing I have changed was the main page. Personally, I believe that the current format of the main page it easiest format to navigate. Sure it's not as colourful as some of the past versions of the site, but it does it's job.
As for the updates, they never have been more frequent. If you already forgot, up until about year ago, you were lucky to get one update a month. Now, I try to get an update every week.
Finally, that comment about the mailbag only being used for announcements is complete garbage. All questions that are asked are answered farely and thing there was only one time I used my answer to make an announcment (related to the question).
As such, I have no reason to believe that it is our fault that you are losing interest in the site.
Is your apostrophe key broken? Would you like to buy a vowel perhaps?
I disagree. We aren't capable of much more.-jay (Although I do think that the main page layout could use improvement. But for some reason I think it always seems to need improvement. We've never had a layout that I've really liked.)
Yeah, you guys step it up. Stop contributing so much to other websites or else MR. NINTENDO will be very unhappy with you.
I give your question a D-. See me after class.
i prviidng 2 versons of this reponce 1 in ur langage n 1 in english.
i like the new layout (not tht it matters to u).
English:
I'm providing two versions of this response, one in your language and one in English.
I like the new layout, especially the way the era pages unite the content for each game.

Hey guy's! Kaatridge here, to ask you some pointless opinion questions for your mailbag. You enjoy doing them. I know you do.
Anyway, onwards! Did/do you guy's enjoy the various Mario TV shows (Super Mario Brothers Super Show, Super Mario World, Super Mario Brothers 3, etc)? I like them, of course it could've been done better, but what do you expect from the early 90's?
P.S And if you like them, why?
Kaatridge
I enjoyed watching them, but I saw them out of order. I saw the Super Mario Bros 3 show first when it first aired, I then saw the
syndicated Super Mario Super Show, then I saw the Super Mario World show. I like them mostly because they were a Mario cartoon.
I actually did like them at the time, because I was nine years old and very easily impressed by cartoons, especially cartoons with Mario in them. Watching them today, though, I can't help but cringe at how awful they are. Now the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... that show has stood up to the test of time.
I disagree. I don't enjoying doing them. It's like sticking a red, hot poker into my eye repeatedly for an eternity of heck and darnation. And hey, the early 90's weren't that bad! Ok...yeah...they were...-jay
Oh boy, nothing I love more than pointless questions. I have a tall glass of 'em every night before I go to bed. It helps me say awake. Anyway, they weren't bad for what they were. I probably liked the Super Mario World show the best. "That's Mama Luigi to you!"
Well, I actually did enjoy both the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 in my youth. They all had their problems, but as a kid I thought Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 was the best.
I used to love them, and I still enjoy them to a point.

Hi!
I've been a really big Mario Fan all of my life. I also got into trading card games back in high school, and of all the games out there, I always wondered how come NOBODY made a mario card game... About three days ago, I ran across a program that allows you to create your own Magic Cards, and so far I've created about 60 different Mario-themed cards. I figure since Nintendo doesn't take fan suggestions, I might as well bounce this idea off of THE biggest Mario Fans on the Internet, and see what you guys think. I created the cards using the Magic rules, for I've never thought of any rules that would be "Mario"-Specific. Tell me what you think!
Thank you for your time.

I'm not that big a card game player. I only ever played the Pokemon one (and that was only once or twice).
That... that is actually the best idea I've heard in a while. I would have KILLED for this game back in middle school, and I bet Jay would have joined me in my killing spree. Mario specific rules would be a must... just tacking Mario on top of a game like Magic wouldn't be sufficient, but it's a good start for now. Te World of Warcraft card game is going pretty well, I hear. How about expanding on that idea, TCG makers?
I disagree. We aren't the world's biggest Mario fans on the internet. We're the world's biggest LUIGI fans on the internet.-jay (Good point about a Mario card game though. Nintendo has already whored Mario out to everything else... I wonder why they never did a card game...)
Bah, all you need as far as Nintendo-related CCGs go is the Pokemon card game. Or the only reason to play Yu-Gi-Oh is to use the Gradius-themed cards. Or you could not be a nerd and go outside for once.
Actually, I think there was some card game based on Mario Party that had optional use of the e-Reader. Ahh, the e-Reader... As any Nintendo buff would know, Nintendo used to be a Playing Card Company, but Nintendo found that their old card press still worked, and thus we got the e-Reader.
I think it's a great idea. I've actually been working on a Mario-based online trading card game using PHP and Javascript for the past few weeks, and it may be done by time you read this.

Please advise if and where in Australia I can purchase Super Mario Bros self inking stamps.
Many thanks, Sandra Venneri
Australian eBay?
The post office, perhaps? Your local kangaroo? I really have no clue.
I disagree...wait...Mario self-inking stamps...? What the hell?-jay
I refuse to answer this question for religious reasons.
Ebay?
I've never heard of them, but if they exist you'll be able to buy them online.
hey guys, i have a question (obviously)
I have noticed you dont want any more mario sports games. Why is this?
patterson willard
It's just that for the longest time, it seemed that Nintendo was pulling a sport out of a hat and throwing Mario in it as a cheap way
to create a new Mario game. Though it's not as bad now as it was a few years ago.
We don't? Until they get to Super Mario Curling, I won't be satisfied, personally.
I disagree. I totally want to see more Mario sports games... Mario Curling... Mario Backgammon... Mario H-O-R-S-E... Etc.-jay
Well, I think the new Mario Baseball game looks like fun, but does anyone really want to see a "Mario Limbo Legends" game?
What's this? I actually like most of the Mario Sports titles, though I think we could do with a lot less Mario Party. Not even counting Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, they tend to be generally well made games. Except Mario Party, but unfortunally, that seems to sell better than all but Mario Kart and Smash Bros.
Because sports games aren't fun.
I have a question about "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games" and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl". While I think it's cool that Sonic is hanging out with Mario and the others, I don't quite understand why. I mean, Nintendo and Sega were famous for being bitter rivals around the SNES/Genesis time period. Now Sonic is guest starring in one of Nintendo's biggest games of all time. Did they just team up because Sega's no longer a potential threat to Nintendo being a third party developer or what? I'd really like to find out. Caleb
I think you answered your own question.
Well, Mario and Bowser were rivals too, but they hang out together in all these freaking spin-off games as well. In the real world you're correct that Sega and Nintendo are playing nice because they are no longer competing in the hardware game. Sega is one of the most Nintendo-friendly third-parties in fact. It makes sense... they're both very Japanese and very old-school, with large line-ups of family-friendly games. IT just goes to show, sometimes the bitterest rivals can become the best of friends once the battle is over.
I disagree. The answer is "or what".-jay
You know, does it really matter? However, at this point I think that even Sonic is tired of starring in horrible trainwrecks and is willing to do anything he can to make even a passing appearance in a playable game.
Oh dear... A question for me... Basically, yeah. Sega is no longer a competitor in the console war, and the idea of Mario and Sonic being in the same game is just plain cool. It's not like the Microsoft-owned Banjo-Kazooie or Joanna Dark showed up in Brawl despite both characters having a legacy on Nintendo Systems. Once the Sega Dreamcast died, Nintendo pretty much welcomed Sega and Sonic with open arms. You do that for defeated rivals. In fact, I would have more of an issue with Solid Snake being in Brawl. Metal Gear Solid is a franchise pretty much tied to the PlayStation legacy.
Editor's Note: True, even though the first Metal Gear game was on NES.
Mario and Sonic met late at night in a dark room and swore in blood to be allies until Microsoft and Sony are vanquish.
I just got the april issue of EGM, and i saw that Kyle Orland wrote The Retro Road Trip Section. Is this SMBHQ Kyle Orland?
Goombaisawesome
Yep. Kyle is a freelance video game writer, while he leaves me with SMBHQ. You can check out his works on his website.
Yep, that's me. I think that's the fifth or sixth article I've written for EGM. You can keep track of all of my freelance meanderings at kyleorland.com.
I disagree. That is not SMBHQ's Kyle Orland, but a different Kyle Orland. Easy mistake.-jay
No, because it was an April issue. That was EGM's joke this year. Pretty lame if you ask me.
Well, only Kyle himself can confirm or deny that, but as far as gaming goes, I've only known ONE Kyle Orland. so take that what you will.
yle doesn't really exist. He was an invented character, and EGM stole the idea. The lawsuit awaits trial.
There is a rumor that Nintendo is planning to make a Super Mario Guitar Hero. Is there any confirmation. Because I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing.
~The Mario Master:
Damien
Is there even Guitar in the Mario themes?
If there wasn't a rumor before, there is now. That said, I really can't see this being true in any way, shape or form. Then again, they did make Mario DDR...
disagree. You should get your hopes up for nothing. It builds character.-jay
I really want to make a "Star Power" joke but I can't come up with anything that don't make me hate myself. I haven't heard anything, but if you really want to play Mario music in a music game, go to Japan and play Pop'n Music or Taiko no Tatsujin.
No confirmation. This is the first time I've heard the rumor.
You have supertoad's confirmation that this rumor is absolutely true and based entirely in fact. Start getting your hopes up. In fact, don't even think about buying another game until you get this one.
At the end of the letter from Mario in the news section, Mario put "Die in a fire". What does that mean?
Also, when Mario mentioned "a man with a gun", did he mean Snake(Snake? Snaaaaaakeeeeee!!!!!!) from Brawl?
Peter Schiller
